CE marking

CE marking for shower enclosures from September 2007

CE marking was developed to support the establishment of an European Internal Market. The introduction of CE marking ensures the free movement of goods between the EU member states. There are different directives to be observed for the various product groups. In the sanitary area CE marking becomes obligatory for shower enclosures from September 2007. To CE mark the products it is necessary that they comply with the requirements of the standard reference DIN EN 14428.

Before affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer must subject the product to a conformity assessment procedure. It is the manufacturer himself who can perform all tasks and associated tests and declare that his product conforms to the harmonised technical specification. Koralle, however, goes one step further and involves an independent control body to ensure the consistent quality of its products. TÜV Süd additionally documents compliance with the legal regulations of the GPSG (applicances and product safety regulations) applicable in Germany which also include hazard prevention measures. Consequently, Koralle does more than just satisfy the legal requirements of CE marking imposed on the manufacturer. The company has all its products approved in this way already since 2006. In compliance with the essential requirements the products will bear the CE mark on the despatch labels starting 1 September 2007.
